Morning Coffee

Sure, we like starbucks. There weren't any the way to work in the morning for Justin - so he found a white chocolate mocha at Buccees, and says he likes it better anyhow. $4.30 every morning....um, adds up.

I'd been trying to convince Justin to make coffee at home for the longest time. But brewing is such a pain in the butt. And i don't drink regular coffee. So i mentioned getting a single cup brewer and we've been open to the idea since, but hadn't gotten one. Until this last weekend.

We went into best buy to look at the xbox kinect. We walked out with a Keurig instead.

Ive had a cafe mocha every morning since.
Looking forward to trying more flavors! So much easier than brewing a whole pot of coffee!

Babies & More Babies

I've talked about having kids a few times... I just reread this post. Haha!

Let me tell you where I stand today. I'm not 25 & Justin is 29. Amanda is married and neither of us have started trying yet, with no plans to any time soon. Hell, I don't even know what's going to happen to my house.

I've spent the last few days on Facebook checking out all the kids I went to highschool with and their kids. I think I'm the only one left without one. Some I saw were kinda of surprising, but then again, maybe not, I don't know these people anymore. I'm still sure my kid isn't going to have any playmates.

But I don't want a kid because everyone else has one. And I really don't want one "because it's the next step in life." Having a kid means rearranging your priorities, your budget, and making sacrifices. All of which I won't mind doing when that time comes, but right now...hell, no. I like my life and the things I get to do and have, and I'm not ready to give any of it up yet. Don't even think about taking away my car. Not happenin'. Some people know they're born to be a parent, and look forward to it, and start thinking about it as soon as they're able. I'm not one of those people (obviously). On the other side, I do long for the feeling of family and having that complete circle. If it happens accidently, God willing, even tho I take measures to prevent it, I'm not going to be disappointed or upset. I'd take it all in with a confused excited smile on my face.

I love watching my pregnant friends go through pregnancy tho. and hearing them talk about it and how excited they are. I'm quite happy for them! I just hope I still have some friends to experience it with when my time comes.

The Great Toilet Paper Debate

Toilet paper oh toilet paper. not a big deal...right?! I'm not talking about the over or under thing..that's a whole other thing on it's own...and frankly, i dont quite care...i just care that it's ON the rolly thing it's supposed to be on...as I am continuously putting it back after Justin takes it off because he says...it's easier to use that way. and i havent yet been able to get him to put it back on the holder when he's done.

When i moved in...I brought my Angel Soft with me. It's cheap. It works.

Apparently, Justin is much more picky when it comes to what touches his bum.

He insisted we buy something else. He picked Charmin.

I hate it.

You see - Justin had gotten sort of used to the Angel Soft and it being...thinner, he says. But when we got the Charmin...he used the exact. same. amount. of tissue. Which led to the toilet being clogged. all the time. i think we're finally getting somewhere and improving that tho.

Until yesterday.

The weather here is AWFUL right now, and has been for weeks, if not months on end - and there was just no way we were going to the grocery store to get toilet paper last night. But...we needed gas in one of the vehicles for me to drive today - and i made Justin run into the convenient store and grab some TP. They must not have had Charmin.

He came back with Quilted Northern. I think this is a brilliant compromise between the cheap thin Angel Soft and the too freaking fluffy Charmin. He agreed we could buy this one from now on.

Hallelujah.

Dear treadmill, ...

Dear treadmill,
Thank you for coming into my life. I no longer feel like a complete lazy-ass while watching television and catching up on my dvr. I can turn you on and just walk. or jog. or sprint. and by the time my shows are done, ive completed 2+ miles. and that's just 2 days in.

Ya - we got my mother in law's treadmill out of her storage unit. It's pretty awesome. I can't keep an actual workout schedule up to save my life - but then i realized how much time i spent just sitting on the couch, un-motivated. I remember MIL had a treadmill - so i sent Justin to get it. Much better than just sitting on the couch. I'd like to do just the treadmill for a week or two just so i know i have some endurance and then ill attempt some toning exercises, as that's mainly what i need. I put back on the 10/12 lbs i lost prior to my wedding - and i need to be back in my wedding dress by the weekend of March 3rd. I think that's when im going to do my trash the dress session. I see my photographer, Leslie Spurlock, for a worskshop this weekend (that im suuuuuuuper stoked about!!), so ill schedule in then. Originally my TTD session was going to be this weekend too, and i was going to be a model for the workshop, but i decided to shoot instead. Should be fun!

In other news - i took my last birth control pill last Thursday. No, I'm not trying to get pregnant. Will fill you in later.  Wish me luck - luck that i dont get pregnant. At least not til after April. If that's what God has planned for me. Just wish me luck that going off of this crap accomplishes what I'm trying to and proves that the pill royally effed up my hormones...

Our 1st Christmas - Married!

Look how cute this ornament Justin's mom got for us is!

Technically it's our 4th Christmas together, but it's our first married one. This year our tree was red and silver. i bought a ton of new ornaments. Trumpets and snowflakes and music notes mostly. i loved the tree to pieces. Here's a few fave ornaments!

Apparently my "holiday" thing is snowmen. This is in my entryway.

And this was in my living room looking into the kitchen.

And here's our typical - lets take a picture in front of the tree shot - at 9PM Christmas day. lol

We spent Christmas Eve at my in-law's house, eating finger foods, and watching Four Christmases. I'd seen it a couple times - but Justin hadn't yet and i was so excited for him to finally see it. He laughed the whole way through and now understands why i wanted him to see it so bad :)
We went back to the in-law's house Christmas morning to open presents. They live about a mile away in the same neighborhood. Here we are opening gifts.

I got a huge new curling iron that I wanted, some new hair products, a beautiful black and white diamond necklace, lots of other jewelry and giftcards, a purse, a standup black jewelry chest and other random things. We got some new bath towels and a huge george forman grill to replace the itty bitty one Justin uses so much. Justin got a mustang barstool from me, along with a few mustang shirts and an awesome hat, and his keypad for his box, and other small things. I think we came out well. Immediately after that, we hopped in the truck to drive 3 1/2 hrs to Franklin, TX to spend Christmas lunch at my great grandma's house. It was Justin's first real get together/luncheon with my family. We opened more presents, and had some reallllly good food. We took our annual family holiday photo of whoever is there that year. See:

It's one of the funnest things. We've been doing this as long as i can remember. And Uncle Charlie (far left) always sets up his tripod and uses his timer and ruuuuuns back to the group. Everyone chants for him and we're all lucky to be looking at the camera when the shutter finally clicks. haha!

Also took an individual photo of my immediate family this year at my mom's request :) One of just mom and us and one with mammaw and aunt laura

Liz and I proceed to go outside and snap a few new shots of her and I before we left.

Overall, it truly was a fabulously blessed Christmas. I hope it was for you all too!  Merry Christmas & Happy New Year Everyone!

Oh what a beautiful day...

Today was crazy. I dont know why, well actually i could give you a few reasons, but i was in a fairly pissy mood. Everything set me off. Everything meaning every idiotic person i came in contact today that cant pay any attention to detail or any instruction or rules that have been in place since i started working here?

After Justin calls me, I pick up the phone and keep talking to my cubicle neighbor, and then finish talking to my cubicle neighbor, and i start to say a couple words and someone else walks up to my cubicle and i say honey i have to go...

I text Justin like an hour later: Crazy ass day.

He texts back: You have a crazy ass today?

At least he makes me laugh.

Two Thumbs Up...

...for the Brazoria County Sheriff's Department. Seriously.

Guess what - Justin left the garage door open. Again. I know i closed it when i got home, I always do. I'm paranoid remember? Well we made the biggest disaster ive ever seen in my kitchen last night (more on that in a minute), and Justin took out the trash - and left the garage door open. I must not have actually heard the door cause the tv was on, or I'd have checked before bed. So at about 2:35 this morning, im in the middle of some dream where im at camp somewhere, and justin is rolling out of bed very quickly and grabbing his gun. im like what's going on!?! I sleep like a rock - i didnt hear anything. Then he's yelling WHO IS IT!! at the door. And i realize ok someone must've knocked. (This happened once before, it was our neighbors possibly going to the ER.) But then i hear him open the door calmly and i still dont know who's there. Then I hear the garage shut. And im like - great. Great great great. And so Justin comes back in and I ask what was that about? And he said he was nice. I'm like who was nice?! He said the sheriff! I said the sheriff?! Apparently there's been some car break ins (UGH!) - and the sheriff was checking all the houses with the garage open (awesome!). Luckily, nothing was missing...

And i give one thumbs up for that - and another one for a previous encounter we've had with them. We walked out of marble slab one day to find some hispanic dude sitting in our truck. We had my 14 yr old sister with us so i didnt want her to get hurt or anything either...The guy sees us, gets out of our truck and hops in a car and takes off. Justin had thrown his keys at the car cause that's all he had, so i know it scratched the car...But we call the sheriff's department and report it, so they can come down there and patrol a bit. And they did! Very quickly too. They called us to follow up three times and got descriptions of what the guy was wearing and what kind of car he was in - and they caught him! They actually had 3 people stopped and when we described what he was wearing, they had him! and he had a warrant out for his arrest anyway. Creep.

so I love the sheriff's department.

On the kitchen note - we made this chicken/broccoli/cheese casserole thing last night and my kitchen was a mess. I decided to try rice in it too, and I can't even cook rice y'all. I think i just needed a bigger pot. And i probably should've only cooked half the bag. Whatever. I saved a few spoonfuls and just put my chicken and broccoli and cheese on top of it. Tasted fine. Luckily I tried to clean up as we messed up and that worked pretty good. Obviously i wasnt meant to be a chef...

Picking out fonts is hard y'all.

No im not blogging about Vegas. Pics are at home. I'm at work. That'd be a no-go.

But i was sitting here on my lunch break and i had our photography business name in photoshop...and i clicked on the font name area and just started hitting the down arrow so it'd just scroll through the different fonts and i could see what all of the letters looked like in different fonts. That doesnt sound too bad except i have 811 fonts installed on top of the default ones. And i want the R and the J to be one font. And i want the Studios to be a different font. And then ill somehow combine them.

But Rebecca, you have a logo already!

Yes, yes i do, and i dont quite like it much. I'd prefer something more modern and handwritten or sans serif or something along those lines and Justin likes the fanciness of it now. I think it's too fancy. That - and with the new site launching soon, im trying to get it all laid out properly and i dont like how the nav menu lines up with the current logo. That damn "J" goes down way too far past the "R" and therefore it doesnt line up with  the nav bar like i want. So i repeated this to Justin numerous times and then i started trying to figure out a solution. Hence the predicament im in right now. Trying to be nice and have Justin involved in this wonderful decision, I picked out a bunch of separate fonts that i liked the R in and numbered them and put them in a single document and sent it to him. I did this with the J and the word Studios too. And then i told him to pick out his favorites and id go from there. So he did. And i thought it was funny because he did NOT pick the word Studios in the current font we have it as. bwaha. Maybe i kinda knew he wouldnt and tricked him? hehe. but there was a similar one in there that he did pick and that i liked better anyway.

so here i am with 3 different files open in photoshop all with our new font picks, trying to make something work. Maybe i should get back to my real work and give this a break, cause it's all starting to look the same.

Baby Fever (ha, not quite...maybe.)

Ok here's the breakdown - im 24, Justin is 28, we're newlweds, and neither of us have any kiddos. He's an only child. I have a sister with 2 kids and a stepson. Most of the time - I see my niece and nephew, they're a terror (cute tho), and im all good for awhile.

Until recently. (warning: most of the things in the next paragraph may be frivolous)

All my friends have kiddos. There's some new kiddos in the family. And im a little saddened that if/when we have a kiddo, they arent going to have any close playmates cause all the kids we know will all be older. I'm attending all these 1 yr birthday parties, and i get all sad when im the only one there without a kid. Like really...im the only one? Unless my bestie goes with me and then there's 2 of us, but that still doesnt make me feel real good. Ok, stupid reason ahead - holy crap i want a kid to take pics of ALL the time. Stupid but true. All my friends had kids before i really got into the photography stuff and now nobody has any newborns. I get to take pics of cute toddlers tho. But if I had my own kid, i wouldnt have to borrow everyone elses when i get an idea. Oh and all the knottie/nestie girls and their signatures dont help either. If i want to post I have to go stare at cute kids.

Ok seriously tho - I'd like to experience motherhood before the end of the world. (i wont exaggerate further on THAT note - well basically i just want to experience it in my lifetime. just want the experience period. maybe i shoulda just said that). Id also like my children to know their great great grandmother (my GREAT grandmother obviously). I was so, so thrilled she was able to make it to the wedding. Her husband is gone, and all of his siblings are gone, and she only has 1 sibling left. But she's amazing. And I know if she does not make it much longer, my child will still have it's GREAT grandma (my grandma), but it just wouldnt be the same. And i know Justin's grandparents would love to see him with a kiddo too. I'd hate for any of them to leave this world and not get to see that.

Issues:

Being pregnant freaks me the hell out. I know having children is "natural" - but it doesnt look natural to me. Dont get me wrong, there's some super cute and beautiful pregnant women out there, but it doesnt really ease my mind any. And childbirth just looks like pure pain. and then boom, there's a kid outside of you and im like HOLY SHIT! that JUST happened. freaks. me. out.

and i have a small house (well it's not too small. it's 3 bedrooms, and id prefer 4). and i dont really want to move right now. and no matter how bad i want to decorate a nursery (thanks nesties...), i dont really have a room for one. it'd prolly turn out boring anyway, and then id be an emotional wreck. And financially speaking, well at the moment, there's just other things id prefer to spend my money on than baby stuff.

So conclusion is : i'm totally not pregnant.

Justin wants a kid before he's 30. My bestie wants a kid now - but realistically in the next 2 years. So my plan is - when she gets married in April - we all start trying. LOL
