Road Rage & Traffic

Road rage. Ya, I have it. Blame the sports car, I don't care. It's no secret that Houston traffic royally sucks. It sucks even more because half of these people just have no common sense, don't pay attention, and just plain don't care to be part of the solution.

What pissed me off this morning - a yield sign...well, the people driving through the yield sign.

You see - a yield sign means...you do not have the right of way. It does not mean, speed up and cut people off.

Maybe I'm still pissed about the wreck we almost had last weekend. I think there's just more idiots than ever on the road. I think I'm a pretty good driver. I pay attention to the other cars around me because I don't trust them. I trust myself just fine.

Back to the yield sign.

From NY's dnv site: "Slow down as you approach the intersection. Prepare to stop and yield the right-of-way to vehicles and pedestrians in or approaching the intersection. You must come to a full stop at a YIELD sign if traffic conditions require it. When you approach a YIELD sign, check carefully for traffic, and be prepared to stop."

Which means, stop unless it's obviously clear.

This morning, there was an suv in front of me. There were 3 cars coming off the 2nd feeder road on my right onto the 1st feeder road that I was on. These 3 cars were bumper to bumper trying to make it into my lane. The front car was pretty much ok, he'd have made it just fine. The 2nd car was pushing it and he's lucky the suv in front of me didn't run him over. The 3rd car expected me to let him in. Which i would've if it was a merge lane. It was not a merge lane...he had a yield sign. He was also entering a 50mph road doing like 30. There's so many things wrong with this picture I'll have to stop now.

I could also go on a rant about turn only lanes versus turn + go straight lanes as well as the lack of people that actually pay attention to where their exit is on a road they drive every day.

My gosh people. The driver's test should be SO much more in depth.

Crash Averted.

Our precious mustang cobra saved our lives Saturday.

Photobucket

I'd like to thank it for having upgraded brakes and hella awesome suspension.

We were on our way home from the car show in Kemah saturday night (ask me if you don't know which one I'm talking about). Justin drove there, so I'm driving home and doing about 55/60 mph. The oncoming traffic is stopped at a red light and I see this truck pull out right in front of me. I figure it's going to speed across real quick and turn left. I was wrong - the pickup truck stopped. In my lane. I'm on the brakes hard. Right at the last second I pulled off the brake and yanked the wheel to the left. If I was going to hit, it was not going to be a head-on collision, it was gonna be the fender. But I yanked the wheel left and let out and ended up in the turn lane of oncoming traffic. Thank you Lord.

People - please drive with common sense. If you're pulling out of a gas station or something and you have the option to pull out at a stop light instead of crossing the highway - take the stop light. I swear it won't delay you that much. You may think you're time is precious, and it is, but not as important as yours and someone else's life. Had we been in our truck - we probably would've hit head on with their driver side door and killed the other driver. Had we been in my other mustang, we'd all be seriously injured.

On a separate note - the weather this weekend was so dang beautiful. We did have the top down quite frequently. And tho I didn't have any formal shoots scheduled, I did get to have some play time with my sister and try some new things out that will do nothing but benefit all of you!

Have a great week everyone!

Two Thumbs Up...

...for the Brazoria County Sheriff's Department. Seriously.

Guess what - Justin left the garage door open. Again. I know i closed it when i got home, I always do. I'm paranoid remember? Well we made the biggest disaster ive ever seen in my kitchen last night (more on that in a minute), and Justin took out the trash - and left the garage door open. I must not have actually heard the door cause the tv was on, or I'd have checked before bed. So at about 2:35 this morning, im in the middle of some dream where im at camp somewhere, and justin is rolling out of bed very quickly and grabbing his gun. im like what's going on!?! I sleep like a rock - i didnt hear anything. Then he's yelling WHO IS IT!! at the door. And i realize ok someone must've knocked. (This happened once before, it was our neighbors possibly going to the ER.) But then i hear him open the door calmly and i still dont know who's there. Then I hear the garage shut. And im like - great. Great great great. And so Justin comes back in and I ask what was that about? And he said he was nice. I'm like who was nice?! He said the sheriff! I said the sheriff?! Apparently there's been some car break ins (UGH!) - and the sheriff was checking all the houses with the garage open (awesome!). Luckily, nothing was missing...

And i give one thumbs up for that - and another one for a previous encounter we've had with them. We walked out of marble slab one day to find some hispanic dude sitting in our truck. We had my 14 yr old sister with us so i didnt want her to get hurt or anything either...The guy sees us, gets out of our truck and hops in a car and takes off. Justin had thrown his keys at the car cause that's all he had, so i know it scratched the car...But we call the sheriff's department and report it, so they can come down there and patrol a bit. And they did! Very quickly too. They called us to follow up three times and got descriptions of what the guy was wearing and what kind of car he was in - and they caught him! They actually had 3 people stopped and when we described what he was wearing, they had him! and he had a warrant out for his arrest anyway. Creep.

so I love the sheriff's department.

On the kitchen note - we made this chicken/broccoli/cheese casserole thing last night and my kitchen was a mess. I decided to try rice in it too, and I can't even cook rice y'all. I think i just needed a bigger pot. And i probably should've only cooked half the bag. Whatever. I saved a few spoonfuls and just put my chicken and broccoli and cheese on top of it. Tasted fine. Luckily I tried to clean up as we messed up and that worked pretty good. Obviously i wasnt meant to be a chef...

America is Phat

Everyone always asks me HOW in the world I walk in these shoes. I don't know, I just do. I love these shoes. They are my favorite bargain pair of shoes ever. They are by Joey O. And I got them at Ross for $14.99. In case you were wondering. But that was last year, and i know they dont have them anymore, so I dont know what else to tell you. Feel free to make fun of my toes. Justin does, I'm used to it. I make fun of the too. Thank you biological father for nothin! HA! Anyway - I dont know how i walk in them either. It's fairly easy on carpet. I get a little nervous on hard flooring. But I can make it down the stairs. If my clumsy butt can make it down the stairs in these shoes...I dont know why other people can't make it down the stairs in shoes that look nothing like these. Oh wait! It's called laziness! Today, I carried a box up the stairs in these shoes, while two perfectly capable folks carried nothing but a cup from a fast food place through the doors of our elevator to go up a single story. Hence, America is considered a very fat country. Fat and lazy. (Seriously, google America Fattest Nation) Except these people I'm talking about weren't fat...just lazy apparently. But I see it every day. And some of the people are quite large, and should be taking the stairs. And I feel sorry for some of them, cause I have a large grandma and listen to her about her weight and back problems, but I don't feel real bad when you just keep eating fast food and taking elevators. Call it rude, whatev, it's totally true. And I watch it on TV all the time on Discovery Health because that channel hypnotizes me! HYPNOTIZES ME!!! But I dont really know anyone 1000lbs or even 600lbs and I cant even imagine that, but i still dont understand what drives these people to put on that much weight. And I hope I dont ever have to experience that first hand with myself or my grandma or anyone else in my family, cause it looks really sad. Sometimes I cry. No joke. But I still love you America. Thank you for discovery health and cable tv. I wonder if those shows make a difference to people tho? Like, I mean, I watch them, and think, holy. crap. I'ma go eat some veggies and hit the gym, a.k.a my living room and my wii, which is better than nothin thank you. But I did see a story on my dvr last week, where one woman had seen another man's story and it drove her to help herself, and that was pretty neat. Oh oh, and then there's the Biggest Loser. Show totally makes me cry. But i guarantee you they've helped a ton of people! oh! and then there's that one show..um..Inside BrookHaven Obesity Clinic. This show makes me mad sometimes. Cause there's people on there that are there because their weight is really life threatening and they know it, but then they dont follow their diet and excercise plans and eventually have to be kicked out cause insurance won't pay for it. It's sad too! And i dont mean any of this rudely (except the people i saw at work this morning, cause that's just irritating), but i dont mean any of it else rudely. I'm mesmerized really. Mesmerized. But I'm easily mesmerized. Lol Hence...i ramble alot. My bad. Didn't mean to write SO much, but there's no point in deleting in now. pft

Oh! And to further give meaning to my blog tag Whats Wrong With the World - yesterday, my neighborhood, truck broken into - GPS and gun stolen. This morning, my bff's co-worker - kidnapped and taken to ATM to pull money out of bank account. WTF PEOPLE. Work for you OWN CHIT! YOU LAZY MOFOS.

Paranoia, Paranoia, Everybody's coming to get me

The hubs - left the garage door open. All night. And it's not like it's the first time. I know as soon as the phone rings as he's pulling out of the driveway, that he's calling to tell me it's open, and that i should get up and shut it, because he's pulling out of the driveway. So I do. Thinking, well I hope no one DID come in in the middle of the night and I hope they aren't hiding in a closet waiting for me to leave so they can jack all my chit. But I'd rather them wait for me to leave than jump out and scare the bejeezes out of me and like have a gun or something. And I know that's not really something to joke about - but the thought of it really does scare the bejeezes out of me. Especially after the awful nightmare I had last night. It's always the same kind of scenario, where someone breaks in, and always am able to grab my gun, but in the dream, it feels like the gun weighs a ton, and I can barely hold it up, and it jams. And i've had that same dream 3 times already, but im in a different house with a different burglar. Maybe i wouldn't be so paranoid if our world wasn't going to crap. The economy starts to blow and the crime rates go up because people are effing lazy and don't know how to work for their own crap. And last summer, there were some break-ins on my street. And i have a good street. I think some of my neighbors are home and outside alot tho, so i hope that deters some of the creeps.
