I'm 24 and my eyes suck.

For the last few months my eyes have been really red. like worse than drunk bloodshot red. all the time. morning to night. Everyone noticed. Weird thing was - my eyes werent bothering me. I wouldn't even know they were red unless i looked in the mirror. Occasionally when the pollen in the air was really bad, i might have some problems...I would blink and then my contact would move and my vision would go blurry for a view seconds. Repeat. Every time i blinked. for a good hour. I just thought i had bad allergies... I was wrong.

But my eyes being red were only partially the reason for my eye dr. visit yesterday... I also needed a new pair of glasses. Badly. Note to self - don't lose glasses case. If you do, go buy a new one. Do not put glasses in makeup bag with tweezers in your suitcase. They get scratched, bad. Plus, i wanted a new style anyway... I got a new pair. Will post when they come in. Back to my eyes looking creepy..

I'll warn you now - don't google what im about to tell you. It's gross. Unless you like gross things...but i did...and i just lost my appetite for lunch... the link below isnt horrible...but the google images are sick.

Dr. didnt find anything wrong with eyes...at first. So that's when she suspected what IS wrong with them... She lifted up my eyelids and BAM! I've got giant papillary conjunctivitis aka GPC. I've been wearing contact lenses since 7th grade y'all... (glasses since 3rd grade - im seriously almost blind, it's awful). I'm sure this was just boooooooound to happen. Add to it that I sit in front of the computer from sun up to sun down daily, and im plain screwed. But what threw my dr off is that other than that blinking tidbit i mentioned earlier (which reading that article again - i see it mentioned...cool..) - my eyes didnt really bother me. All those symptoms... i aint got. just red eyes. which isnt even listed. and it should be. or perhaps it should just be added on to irritation, cause that's gotta be what cause it. so i guess i do have one symptom... So - the dr. gave me some eye drops and ive got a follow-up appt in a month to check progress, tho she said it could take 3-4 months to completely go away. She didnt tell me i had to stop wearing my contacts tho. But she gave me a thinner one and im wearing them today. I think it does in fact help. But with my new glasses, i do plan on wearing them more, so hopefully it'll help the healing process for my eyes. And then im switching contacts again. I cant imagine my contact lens solution being the problem as ive been using it for yeeeeeeeears, so im going to blame it on the lenses i was wearing and the horrible pollen in the air this year. But here's to my eyes not being red too much longer! whew!

Wanna know where the age thing comes into my blog title? ha...

I was sitting in front of the lady ordering my glasses and she flipped the monitor around to have me review my personal information. My street was spelled wrong, so i fixed that, and also changed Ms. to Mrs. (she even complimented me in that i even noticed that! lol!)...and then i saw my age, and i actually started to argue that the computer was wrong. that ya, my birthday is 8/13/85 just like it says but i was not 24! The screen said 24 (3) so i thought oh im 23, hence the parenthesis and it just round it up! um...computers arent wrong. I'm 24. I guess i forgot my little sister turned 22. Cause i thought she was 21...and im always like, well im 2 yrs older than her... my bad. This also means that Justin is not 27 (as i always think he is 4 yrs older than me) - he's 28. Which also means my whole having a kid timeline just got completely rethought. Dang.

Beep!...Beep!...Beep!

Ever since I moved into our house, the dang smoke detectors would not. quit. beeping. We just thought heeeey the batteries must be dead. Let's replace them! And i would hold the chair still while Justin changed the batteries. Not too much longer we'd hear the beeping again. We thought ooooh it must be the cheap batteries. Like really cheap batteries. Rayovac or something. Justin's dad made a big deal out of it when he saw them haha. But he also pointed out - that the reason they were still beeping was that the detectors had to be reset when you replaced the battery. Holy crap. My house is quiet again. I never learned how to maintain a dang smoke detector! I thought it was like everything else : battery goes dead. Open battery compartment, replace battery, close compartment. The object works again. But that's apparently not the case on smoke detectors. I'm sure there's probably a manual with the homeowners packet, but we never even thought to look. Instead, we endured a year of the dang thing going off every 20 minutes or however frequently it was. Sheesh.

I'm boycotting the Kemah boardwalk.

Ok, first of all, i havent been to the Kemah boardwalk since before Hurricane Ike hit us. i used to go every weekend. Be it the car show at Chic-Fil-A/Target (that recently got shut down and moved to Hooters... and i havent been to it since it moved, and now have no desire to go, wtf? but I bet Chic-Fil-A is really pissed off as well as the other businesses around there, cause it brought in a toooon of business and had been going on for years, wtf again), or rock the dock during the summers, or whatever, i used to love the boardwalk. In fact, I kinda wanted to do our engagement photos there or something. It'd have been a lot of fun. Well, we'd been talking about going for awhile, and the last few times we'd mentioned it, we just never went. Well we went last night. I thought maybe..maaaayyyybeee...with the UFC fight on and Eli Young Band playing at the dog track, that perhaps, just maybe, Kemah wouldnt be as crowded as a typical Saturday night. Boy was i wrong. I guess everyone decided to go watch the UFC fight at the restaurants in Kemah. All the parking lots near 146 were all full and im like, great, why even try to find something closer...We were really trying to get to the top of the parking garage and take a night photo of the ferris wheel spinning...so i proceeded to drive toward the parking garage. And I'm driving by the parking lots on the boardwalk itself and i see pah-leeeeenty of parking. So im thinking, what gives?! And then i see these security dudes, and then i see signs saying parking was $6. six dollars. to park, and go eat. now WHY the hell would i want to pay to park, and then go pay to eat, and play games. No thanks! Do they not make enough money on the arcades and the train and the new rollercoaster and stuff that they had to start making people pay for parking? Or are they just greedy sons of bitches? I'm betting the latter. Well they're not getting my money...ever. again. I turned right around and went home. and that's a long ass drive. But a refreshing one. Cause we were in the black mustang. Which has a fresh new gauge pod in it. Blog on that later. But we really just love driving the mustangs. anywhere. with the windows down. even in the summer. with the radio up loud. So ya, when the hell did Kemah start charging to park? Screw you Kemah. Screw. You.

Edit 7/13/09 - Well, apparently it's only paid parking on like Friday & Saturday. But still ridiculous.

I'm so sore, but i think it was worth it?

Well i think we totally missed the planting/gardening season...but i figure better late than never? maybe? unless you live in texas. and it's 104 degrees outside in June. and you're actually probably better off just leaving your flower beds perfectly alone and dry. but anyway. we worked on ours all day yesterday. like all day. it probably would've only taken about 2 hours. but we were only outside for about 10 minutes at a time. 10 minutes outside, 20 inside. or something. and we each drank a whole bottle of water at each inside break. i think we went through an entire case of dassani. But that's better than a heat stroke... and I can't believe we dont have any sunscreen in the house! I looked and looked and there's none here. My face moisturizer has spf 15 in it, so i dabbed some on...it helped a little. Justin's dad was playing golf at 11 AM yesterday. He was wearing spf 100. I didnt even know they made spf 100. But we went to eat with his parents last night, and there wasnt a smidgen of a clue on his skin that he was out in 104 degree weather for 4 hours. awesome. Justin's neck on the other hand...looks like a tomato. Not quite as bad as when we floated down the river 5 years ago and it looked like someone painted his legs with red paint. that was awful. but his neck is still pretty red....I'm not burned, but that's probably because i tanned for about a month before the wedding, and im still ok over here... My body on the other hand, feel like i slept on a bed of nails. I'm so sore. and my left hand is extremely cramped. i dont even know why my hand hurts. but i cant make a very tight fist. It's mostly my thumb. meh, enough rambling. here's some pics of the flower bed. I didnt expect it to take allllll day. maybe i can mess with the inside of the house today. hmph.

Here's some before (only it's not reallllly completely before...we had already planted a couple of the shrubs since there was a big dead spot)

And here's some afters.
